In a tie-in to his hit BBC series, Michael Palin explores Brazil, an exotic country which is now a global superpower with vast natural resources and growing industries. One of the few countries Palin had never studied in detail before, Brazil is a huge and disparate nation - home to a potent mix of races, religions and cultures, as well as thoroughly modern cities. In his inimitable way, Palin heads from the Venezuelan border to the spectacular Iguacu Falls, encountering the Yanomami in the forests of the Lost World, embarking on river journeys to the headwaters of the Xingu and meeting a large community of German descent, who celebrate the biggest beer festival outside Munich, along the way.
