Useful Photography #009 resurrects the beauty found within the humble photography manual with a collection of images sourced from the analogue days when the word ‘manual’ also referred to the type of camera being used. Alongside demonstrating approved photography techniques, the images also (luckily) explore and illustrate how to identify the problems and correct them. The reader also discovers the double-exposed, the under and over-exposed, the poorly lit, the ‘shaken’ and out of focus, chemical stains and red eyes – to name a few potential catastrophes that may ruin the perfect photograph. In revealing all these little problems highlighted in these helpful guides, Useful Photography illustrates that even mistakes have a rare and never to be repeated beauty of their very own.
